A Modest Proposal

It seems that many universities like to decorate their halls with very large portraits of past presidents and trustees (usually in some kind of dignified pose). However, why have a portrait when you could carve your likeness into the side of a mountain? Now, THAT would be pretty damn impressive. Just imagine hundreds of carved mountains featuring college presidents, provosts, institute directors, Nobel prize winners, program managers, department heads, and professors. Yeah, that would be pretty awe-inspiring.

Hundreds of years later, kids would look up and ask "Daddy, who's that?"

"Oh, nobody now. Probably just some loser."

Obviously, Universities with no nearby mountains would have to come up with an equally impressive alternative.
